The Icelandic Sheepdog's journey began over a thousand years ago when the Vikings set foot on Icelandic shores. Through concerted efforts, the breed was revived, although it remains relatively rare outside its homeland.

The Icelandic Sheepdog, locally known as the Icelandic Spitz or Íslenskur fjárhundur, is a breed that carries the weight of history on its furry shoulders. Originating from the cold terrains of Iceland, this breed is one of the oldest and the only native dog breeds of the region.
